Smart cities mission was one of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi’s first flagship initiative launched in 2015, the smart city mission aimed to develop 109 citizes that will ‘provide core infrastructure, a decent quality of life of its citizens, clean and sustainable environment & application of smart solutions.
Faridabad as a city was selected in the smart city mission in the fast track round on 21st May 2016. overall vision of the city is “Transforming Faridabad to a cleaner and greener city by introducing smarter way of life”. Faridabad smart city Limited under its SPV has taken a pledge to take its citizen of the city as partner in the progress.
The process of co-creation through cooperative competition is a part of Smart city proposal &under which FSCL has organised a National level Wall Painting Competition with a tagline of IMPRINTS ON THE SAND OF TIME based on the theme of “ Stories of India” with an objective to remind itscitizens about the good old days &reflect back to the impressionof those memories, where an opportunity is provided to the creative hands of artists from across India, to paint those impressions on the walls of the intersection of the OLD-Faridabad Flyover.
The competition was organised jointly by Municipal Corporation Faridabad and Faridabad Smart City limited. The event was an initiative by the Government to make the next generation aware of the rich tradition of story telling in India and to enrich the beauty of city through visual arts. Topic of “STORIES OF INDIA” included stories like Mahabharat, Ramayan, Panchtantrakikahaniyan, Akbar Birbal, VikramBetaal, Jataka Tales, Gitopadesha Tales, Tenali Rama etc.
Around 100 Teams from across India participated in the competition. The half a day long event began with the hand imprinting on the intersection wall of the Old Faridabad flyover. Where the hand imprints were done by our Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Government of Haryana, Sh. VipulGoyalji, followed by the hand imprinting by other high level dignitaries which included the names of Sh. ParthGupta,IAS, additional Commissioner, MCF & CEO, Faridabad Smart City limited, Smt. SumanBala,Mayor,MCF, Ms.Belina Rana– CTM, Faridabad & Addl. CEO, Faridabad Smart City Limited, further followed by hand imprints of Officials, participants & citizens of Faridabad.
The day long programme, where the participating teams had shown their art skills on the walls of the flyover, on the theme of “STORIES OF INDIA” was followed by a facilitation ceremony for the winners.
The chief guest of the event was Sh. Krishan Pal Gurjjar, Hon’ble Minister of state for social Justice Empowerment, Govt. Of India. The event also witnessed the presence of other dignitaries and the JURY MEMBERS as well. .
At the end the painting of the wall C-10 (Kapil & Team ) from Gurugram won the first prize depicting the painting of “Vikram&Betaal”. The painting showed how the time has changed. The painting shows the change from television to WI-FI which attracted the Jury members to make it the First prize winner of Rs. 50,000.
There were other beautiful paintings which got attracted the jury members and got the places of 1st Runner ups (which included two teams) and 2nd Runner ups (including three teams) & 13 consolation prizes.
All the prizes were given by the Hon’ble Minister Sh. Krishan Pal Gurjjar and ended on a great note of “MERA SHEHAR, MERA ABHIMAAN”.
